Association of Professional Music Therapists

This is the main website for Music Therapy in the UK. Most Music Therapists are members of the Association. BAMT can help find a Music Therapist in your local area.

Health and Care Professions Council

All Arts Therapists in the UK have to register with the Health Professions Council. They ensure all registered professionals adhere to their standards e.g. receive regular supervision and are fit to practice. This is their main website.

Guildhall School of Music and Drama

The first Music Therapy training course in the UK was established at the Guildhall in 1967. It now trains Music Therapists to Masters level and is where I did my training.

The National Autistic Society

The National Autistic Society is a nationwide charity providing information and services for people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, their carers and professionals. I currently work for their Harrow branch. The website has a useful section on Music Therapy and how it can be beneficial for people with autism.

Nordoff Robbins

Nordoff-Robbins is a charity who carry out Music Therapy throughout the UK. Their website has lots of information including an evidence bank of research into the benefits and effectiveness of Music Therapy.

Voices

Voices is a free open access International journal. Its goal is to encourage dialogue in Music Therapy and Indigenous Studies around music and the arts.

Nash College

I worked for Livability for 4 years. They provide services for children and adults with learning difficulties.
